This work began when I was at Cranbrook Academy of Art and continued for several years. I wanted to abandon the untouchable picture-plane of the traditional photograph, and create images that were also artifacts. Collection was a series of clues and artifacts from a story that needed to be put together by the viewer. I hoped to cause people to wonder whether what they were looking at was "real or art", and to create an experience of mystery that would draw the viewer in.
